XenDesktop 7 released, XenServer 6.2 released and Performance Impact of Office versions in VDI.
Citrix today officially released XenDesktop 7. Together with XenDesktop 7 also the Receiver 4.0 is also available for download. As XenDesktop 7 is also including the previous XenApp functionality (Citrix now calls that RDS, just as MS) it’s good to check Shaun Ritchie’s feature comparison between XenApp 6.5 and XenDesktop 7. Stephane Thirion also published the screenshots of the XenDesktop 7 installation steps, Kees Baggerman summarized the XenDesktop 7 unattended installation options and Barry Schiffer wrote down his thoughts of the simplified architecture of XenDesktop 7.
Together with XenDesktop 7 also XenServer 6.2 is released. This is the first full version of XenServer that is available completely for free, only if you want to have support you need to purchases licenses (now based per socket).
The Project VRC team released a new white paper describing the performance impact of the different Office versions within a VDI infrastructure.
